Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come 2 Corinthians 5:17
It is always encouraging to know that the same God who has changed so many lives through the Old and New Testament is still changing lives today.
At Real Hope this week we have spent time (as we always do) with our beloved friends showing them the same love that we show each other. Those who have lost their way, those who are in pain, those who do not know the saviour… These are the people that Jesus came for.
We were blessed this week with donations of food from our church congregation as we had a collection for our ministry. We were also blessed with someone who shared a message of how our awesome God changed his life.
Gerson has come from a life of drug use and drug trafficking, he has lead a dangerous life, he has been in prison and he came to know the Lord through the Teen Challenge Program. He is now a trained chef and has a love for Jesus with the changed heart God has given him.
And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26
It was when Gerson was kidnapped and was being beaten that he realized that he had to change and how much he needed Jesus. He said that it was at that moment that he knew that even though he had money, he was a poor man.
There was some great conversations afterwards, loads of our beloved friends wanted to talk to him and thank him for his message, but the one that deserves all the glory is Jesus for doing His will through Gerson. We at Real Hope hear great stories of how God changes the lives of those who give him the control. Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23-24
Our Friday mornings are still going strong. Friday mornings are a great time for us to have breakfast with our beloved friends, to get along side them more than we do on Wednesday, it is more relaxed and we have a good number of people attending. We have around 100 different faces per week, that is 100 people that spend time with those of us who love them and who love God, the more they get to see us, the more they get to see how Jesus has changed our lives and how He can change theirs. We (As Christians) have to be close to the broken but separate from the world, to live in this world as it should be, to show it what it can be. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2
We thank you for your continued prayers and ask that you keep our beloved friends in your prayers and hearts. When you see someone in need a friendly smile, a short conversation, a warm drink, a sandwich… All these small things can be a big deal for them.
God bless you all.
The Real Hope team.
