Real Hope Update. 17/04/2016

Greetings to you all from us at Real Hope in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.   Before we talk about how things have been this past month let us focus on this part of the Bible.

Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralyzed Man

1 A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. 2 They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. 3 Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. 4 Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”
6 Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, 7 “Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

8 Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, “Why are you thinking these things? 9 Which is easier: to say to this paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’? 10 But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the man, 11 “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” 12 He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”   Mark 2:1-12

So here we have people bringing a paralyzed man to Jesus to heal, which must have taken preparation and motivation (gathering rope, planning the route to the roof, knowing that Jesus would be there, the strength to carry him up, the strength to lower him with aid of the rope) and as a result they got him to Jesus successfully.  Shouldn’t we have the same attitude bringing others to know Jesus?  And we have Jesus calling him “Son” not “Paralyzed man”.  The verse ends with “This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!” ”  At Real Hope we see people who would not normally go to church turn up on a Sunday morning, we hear of life changing stories and see God at work, so as followers of Jesus we should yearn to say “We have never seen anything like this”.
We have started up again after a 2 week Easter break, our Friday mornings were not affected by this so we have still had contact with our beloved friends.  Please continue to pray for this work, for us and for our beloved friends.
Every week we invite people to seek Jesus, Some ask questions, some come to church to see what it is all about.  After Real Hope we pray for changed lives and for the Jesus to heal them in a way that they cannot heal themselves

We still continue to give the clothes that we have been given to us, we are thankful to God for answered prayer and for those who have donated to us to give to our beloved friends.

The last week leading up to Easter we showed the scene of the “thief on the cross” who believed in who Jesus was and then Jesus responds with  “today, you will be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43).  Easter has a meaning of “new life” and that is the what following Jesus offers for us all.
On Weds 13th March we had Mark Greenwood speaking.  Mark is a Christian speaker who has a passion for equipping christians for reach out to the world and who travels and speaks at venues across the UK.

After he finished his message and prayed for our friends  one of them got up out of his seat and hugged him.  Marks message was about how God loves us and wants a personal relationship with us,  our beloved friends never get warm conversations, people praying for them, clothing and food out there on the cold night…. But that man got it as he came from us.  These are the people Jesus came for.

If you would like to know more about Mark and what he do then check out his website at

He also has a website that states more about his work which you can see here

So we thank God for His faithfulness and we thank you all too for your continued interest and support please continue to keep us in prayer and when you see someone in need… Show them love, say hello, that might be the only decent conversation they have had in days for Jesus said “Love your neighbour as yourself” (Mark 12:31)

God Bless you all.
