Greetings to you all from us at Real hope in the name of the father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
So our first month of Real Hope is complete but the work that God is doing through us is still as ongoing and as strong as ever. As the song (God in the city) goes:
“Greater things are yet to come, and greater things are still to be done in this city”.
Here is an update from how things have gone so far.
Wednesday 20th January. (First Real Hope night of 2016)
Greatness Is Serving
20 Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons came to Him with her sons, kneeling down and asking something from Him.
21 And He said to her, “What do you wish?”
She said to Him, “Grant that these two sons of mine may sit, one on Your right hand and the other on the left, in Your kingdom.”
22 But Jesus answered and said, “You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?”
They said to Him, “We are able.”
23 So He said to them, “You will indeed drink My cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with; but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared by My Father.”
Sometimes we ask God for opportunities to reach His people without remembering what it is we are asking Him for (verse 22). If you are going to ask something of the Lord, remember to live up to the promise.
Don’t be a volunteer if you are not willing to put the hours in,
don’t be a surgeon if you are afraid of blood,
don’t be a footballer if you are not prepared to run.
We asked God to bless us tonight as we opened the doors invited our beloved friends in and shared Gods love with them. This was our first Wednesday night of the year. Our Friday morning breakfasts are going well, we are having some great conversations with our beloved friends and we are blessed with the opportunity to spread Gods word to those who need to hear it.
We had Bevan Health care with us tonight along with someone to offer advice and support on housing issues, we had our clothing team on hand for those who require clothing and sleeping bags for those who need them.
We had Kirsty and Sam in the kitchen for the first time, Kirsty and Sam are members of our church family and contribute a great deal to our church and it’s vision.
Our Brother in Christ Bazz (one of the two Real Hope Leaders) gave the message tonight. He spoke of his journey out of addiction and how Jesus healed him of years of alcohol misuse issues, he also said that “a new year does not start when we change our calendar, a new year starts when we change our hearts”.
There was some good conversations afterwards, we also promoted a C.A.P job club to help people back into employment. C.A.P (Christians Against Poverty) Is a christian based organization that works closely with our church.
We had 65 people in tonight who heard the message of hope, who were given a hot meal and shown Gods love, we gave out 2 sleeping bags to those in need, 5 people saw the G.P and it was a peaceful night thanks to Gods protection and having someone in the prayer room throughout the evening.
Thank you for your continued support and interest in this ministry, please continue to pray for us and for those who we talk to. Pray for salvation, for opened eyes for changed hearts.
Real Hope Wednesday Evening 27/01/16
Jeramiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.
As we have now entered 2016 and it is almost the end of January we have had some changes, both in the ministry and in our personal lives, but we are trusting that God is prospering us and not harming us, we live for Him because He died for us.
We opened tonight in prayer as we prepared for the evening, we were concerned about the kitchen duties, who was going to cook the meals? How was everything going to work? But we knew that it was all in Gods hands and that is the best place for it.
We have a good relationship with each other as well as with those who come through the doors, and that is such an important part of the ministry Proverbs 27:17 states that we should strengthen each other (As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend).
Anwen brought the message tonight, Anwen (along with Bazz) is a Real Hope leader. God is working through them as well as working through the team as a whole. We praise God and go to Him with questions and the choices we are wanting to make, keeping God in the center of our mission is important as it helps us to direct those in pain to the right healer.
Anwen spoke tonight about Real Hope, not the mission but the Real Hope that is found in Jesus, that is what our mission is named after. We have seen time and time again how that real hope has changed lives. Anwen spoke passionately about this hope and how lives can be changed when we come to realize that Jesus is with us and we must live for Him.
We had some great conversations that night, we had someone asking for a bible who had never asked before. We also was approached by someone who wanted prayer and guidance. This man knew that Jesus was real but he needed to do more with his life than just acknowledge Jesus’s existence. This man said “I need to put more footwork in, rather than asking for others to do it for me”. We listened to this man and most importantly we prayed with him. Please keep this man in your prayers.
We were also joined tonight by Bevan Health care (The G.P team who team up with us regularly and also offer medical advice and guidance) and Arch initiatives (who are dedicated to enhancing the health and wellbeing of people and communities).
It is always great to have other services team with us and to give additional support to those in need.
So it was a great fortnight as we started back up, things are coming together praise God.
We are thankful for what is happening in our ministry and in our lives, we are also thank you all for your continued support and prayers.
God bless you all this following week.
The Real Hope team.
